Little kids got waaaayyyy more energy than old people.

Early birthday present!  Mom's still smiling...  Jake loves this truck!

And of course the box is pretty darn interesting too.

Birthday party on the 24th of April; Granpa and Dad built a sandbox for Jake.  The day was spectacular, a welcome relief from the forecast "partly drizzly", and the dogwoods bloomed:

Eighteen bags of sand at 50 pounds each equals one heck of a back ache.

But it's all worth while when time to take Jake out and see his new toy.

On to party time!  Mom made this cake, from scratch.  Note the bees on the corners.

Dad made balloon hats and animals.

We had lots of food and Uncle Matt and cousins Christina, Sarah and Mary came too:
